Jimmy Carroll Crumpton, 79, crossed over to eternity on Thursday, January 24, 2019 at North Miss. Medical Center in Tupelo after a sudden illness. Jimmy was born on Aug. 31, 1939 in Benton County, Hickory Flat, MS. to Alvie Collins Crumpton and Mildred Waureen Mannon Crumpton. He was a working many and spent 33 years as a Pipe Fitter for Nash Brothers and Geneva Constructions Companies, primarily working in the Aurora, Illinois area. He was a member of the Local Pipe Fitters Unions in Illinois. Jimmy married his wife of 51 years, Sandra Sue Haas Crumpton in New Albany, MS. on Sept. 26, l967. After his retirement, the returned to Mississippi in l989 and made their home in Mooreville. Jimmy was an interesting man who seemed to fully capture the rhythm of life over 79 years. He loved God’s creation and all outdoors, his lakes and streams as a fisherman and the woods as a hunter. He loved animals especially dogs and loved mowing his lawn and planting a garden. He greatly enjoyed the old fashioned country music songs, clocks and his tractor. He was a jovial but serious man who was well acquainted with sorrow but always exhibited a joyful countenance. He will be missed.
A service celebrating his life will be held at 6 PM Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Bro. Ricky Ford officiating. Visitation will be from 5 PM-service time Tuesday only at the funeral home. The service may be viewed via hollandfuneraldirectors.com/Livestreaming at 6 PM Tuesday and for 60 days thereafter.
Jimmy is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Sandy Crumpton of Mooreville; 7 children, David Crumpton (Nancy) of Montgomery, Illinois, Jimmy Allen Crumpton of New Albany and Elizabeth Ann Garcia of Illinois and his 4 beloved dogs that brought him daily pleasure and companionship, Delilah, Peanut, Hercules and Biscuit. 8 grandchildren and their families and a special niece, Michelle Crumpton of Tupelo. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvie and Mildred Crumpton, his son, William Robert “Billy” Crumpton, his brother, Glen Allen Crumpton and a host of his special dogs over a lifetime.
