Jesse Glenn Beasley, born on November 25, 1937 in the Zip City Community, passed away on May 27, 2014 at the age of 76 years. He was a resident of the Wilson School / Zip City Community.
Visitation will be Saturday, May 31, 2014 from 12:30 – 2:30 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. The memorial service will be immediately afterwards at Geenview with burial following at Rogers Chapel/Wilson Cemetery. Words of comfort and remembrance to be offered by Brother Robert Huffaker and Billy Valentine.
Mr. Beasley was preceded in death by his parents E.L. Sr. & Marine Hardwick Beasley; siblings E. L. (Buddy) Beasley, Jr., Ray Houston Beasley, Betty Ann Beasley Paulk, and Robert Beasley. He was also preceded in death by his very special lady friend Ruby Woods Young.
Mr. Beasley is survived by sisters, Sara Ruth Beasley Valentine, Elsie Hardwick Beasley Marks, and sister-in-law, Betty Fay Forsythe Beasley. Additionally, he is survived by 12 nieces & nephews, as well as several great nieces/nephews.
He is also survived by a very special lady friend Myra Stutts as well as by many good friends and neighbors.
Mr. Beasley was a 1956 graduate of Central High School, a member of the Methodist Church, a member of the Florence Moose Lodge, and served in the Alabama National Guard. While employed with Western Electric and later with
Baader-Johnson (Kansas City), Mr. Beasley traveled throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, South America, and Great Britain. Mr. Beasley enjoyed watching sports, NASCAR racing, bull riding, and playing shuffleboard. However, most of all, he enjoyed visiting, talking, and socializing with friends and family. He was a neat, upbeat person and had a “spring in his step!”
Active pallbearers will be nephews.
Honorary pallbearers are A. M. Brewer, Jack & Brenda Trousdale, Mary Smith, Jimmy Risner, Matthew Massey, and James Woods.
The family extends its most grateful appreciation to Dr. Amy Stubbs & the staff of the Blood & Cancer Center, Dr. Abu-Said, Dr. Holden, Dr. Rodrigues, ECM 6th Floor Nurses & Techs, and Matthew Massey & the staff of Massey Drugs for their care of Mr. Beasley.
He was the type of uncle everyone should have with his “fun for life, laughter in his stories, and with his care & love for family & friends!”
