Jeremiah Matthew ScottIt is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jeremiah Matthew Scott, a bright and beloved young soul who left us too soon at the age of 17. Jeremiah passed away on Sunday, November 9th, 2025, in his hometown of Athens, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.

Jeremiah was born on January 31st, 2008, to his loving parents, Matthew and Roree Coffman Scott. From his earliest days, he brought joy and laughter to his family and friends, touching the lives of all who knew him. His radiant spirit and kind heart were apparent to everyone he encountered, making him a truly special young man.

Jeremiah’s memory will be forever cherished by his devoted mother, Roree Coffman Scott, and father, Matthew Scott. He is also survived by his grandmothers, Becky Coffman and Carolyn Scott, who adored him deeply. Though no longer with us, Jeremiah’s grandfathers, James Coffman and Dan Scott, along with his uncle, Jimmy Coffman, preceded him in death and are remembered with love.

Family and friends are invited to come together to celebrate Jeremiah’s life and pay their respects during a visitation on Friday, November 14th, 2025, from 10:00am to 12:00pm at Madison Street Baptist Church. A service will follow at 12:00pm, officiated by Pastor C.W. Kennedy and Jason Pylant. Jeremiah will be laid to rest at Gatlin Cemetery.

Jeremiah Matthew Scott was a remarkable young man who made a significant impact on everyone who knew him. His absence leaves a void that cannot be filled, but his spirit will continue to inspire and comfort those who had the privilege of sharing in his life. Jeremiah will be greatly missed, but his legacy of kindness and love will endure in the hearts of all who knew him.
