Jeanette ChastainJeanette Chastain, age 84, of Albertville, Alabama, passed away on February 3, 2024. Born on April 10, 1939, to the late Dewey and Arlis Saxon, Jeanette left a legacy of love, faith, and service that will be cherished by all who knew her.
An active member of the First Baptist Church of Albertville, Jeanette dedicated over 54 years to the church. She especially enjoyed singing in the Church choir, serving as a Sunday School teacher and participating in numerous committees. Her unwavering commitment extended beyond the walls of her church as she worked for many years with the mission program serving teenage girls at FBC’s Cahill Mission Church.
In addition to her church involvement, Jeanette helped found and organize the Christian Women’s Club of Marshall County in the early 1970’s. Her dedication to fostering fellowship and faith extended to this community organization, leaving a lasting impact on the lives of the women she served.
Jeanette’s infectious smile and warm greetings made her a beloved figure in her family and church community. She was known as the heart of many, always ready to share the love of Jesus with everyone she encountered. Her family fondly remembers her saying, “Her smile was Jesus shining through.”
Survived by her devoted husband of 63 years, John Chastain, Jeanette leaves behind a legacy of love and faith. She is also survived by her daughters, Susan Gravlee (Gaines) and Sandy Jolly (Phil), grandchildren Valerie Grauel (Ryan), Kristen Gattis (Jake), and Jonathan Gravlee (Ruthie), as well as great-grandchildren Gaines, Hollis, and Mason Grauel, Cameron and Wesley Gattis, and Savannah and Abigail Gravlee. She is also survived by her sister, Carolyn Shull.
In addition to her parents, Jeanette was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Ken Shull.
A memorial service to celebrate Jeanette’s life will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, February 11, 2024, at First Baptist Church of Albertville. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be sent to the First Baptist Church of Albertville Building Fund, Mission Fund, or General Budget, 309 East Main Street, Albertville, Alabama 35950.
