Janis Enterline Bean, age 72 of Winchester, passed away Sunday, November 28, 2021 at Bailey Manor surrounded by her loving family. She was born February 28, 1949 in Danville, PA to the late Robert F. Enterline and Frances D. Enterline whose family moved to Winchester in 1959 with the Hat Corporation. She taught for 25 years at Franklin County High School. She supported the Templeton Laws of Life essay contest and was asked to help other teachers with this education program. She made a teacher’s guide that would be helpful for teachers throughout the U.S. She also was asked to meet with teachers in South Carolina, Florida, Georgia and D. C. Senator Bill Frist introduced a resolution and quoted her efforts to educate youth on the importance of moral decisions. After retirement, she volunteered at Broadview Elementary School where she was very involved in her grandson, Jake’s, activities, especially the Clover Bowl. She became known as “Muddy” to many children in Franklin County. She was the “Ultimate Volunteer” for anyone or any organization in need. She was an avid golfer who participated for many years in Franklin County Country Club Women’s Golf Association. She served for 6 years on the Tennessee Golf Association Women’s Competition Committee. She achieved the ultimate goal of any golfer by recording a hole in one of which she was very proud. She also enjoyed playing bridge with friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Terrell Bean. They were married on April 12, 1998 and he passed away on December 24, 2000. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Robert F. Enterline, Jr. and sister, Debra E. Martin. She is survived by son, Jeff (Melissa) Collins and grandson, Jake Collins, all of Winchester; brother, Greg (Deborah) Enterline of Georgetown, TX; stepchildren, Prairie (Phil) Burt, T. J. (Amanda) Bean and Susan Goff; step-grandchildren, Bella, Malaia, Elijah, Tee, Addison, Orion, Staley, Emilie and Elizabeth; niece, Angie (Jeremy) Bates; nephew, Joe (Meredith) Martin; great-nieces, Kayla Haley, Hannah Martin and Ava Martin; great-nephew, Addison Haley; and great-niece, Sophie Haley. Visitation will be 10 am-1 pm Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 1 pm in Moore-Cortner Chapel with Rev. Dr. Steve Angus officiating.
