Mr. James Youngerman, age 75, passed away late Sunday in Lexington. Funeral services are scheduled for 3 PM, Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at New Hope Methodist Church in the Shady Hill Community. Interment will follow in Lexington Cemetery. Pafford Funeral Home of Lexington is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Youngerman was born May 28, 1942 in Decatur County to the late Fredrick Edwin and Lena Lacy Youngerman, the second of three boys. James was a man who loved life and kept a balance between work and leisure. Concerning work, he was a long time truck driver and hauled material for over fifty years. In addition to his trucking he loved his farm and enjoyed the managing aspect as well as all the other responsibilities. His first love was his family and always said, “I couldn’t have a better family”. For someone who was afraid of water, he loved spending time at the river with his family and took enjoyment in teaching countless people how to water ski, or driving the boat as they skied. However, keep in mind that James didn’t know how to water ski, thus demonstrating just the type of person he was. Another love of his was horses and the memories of his “Ramblin’ Rose”, or all the time he spent at the saddle clubs watching his family compete in the different classes. In fact, James started the first trophy show at the Decatur County Saddle Club many years ago and somehow won the first trophy. James and his wife Gail had a thirst for travel, whether it was in their RV touring the United States or their extensive trips outside of the country. For someone who never met a stranger, this suited James perfectly.

Survivors include his wife of almost 34 years, Mrs. Gail Youngerman of Lexington; one son, Robert Bird (Debora) of Lexington; one daughter, Gail Ann Bridges (Gene) of Arlington; two brothers, Edwin Youngerman and Marvin (Lee) Youngerman of Lexington; six grandchildren, Jennifer Bird Crownover (Matthew), Matthew Bird (Brittnie), Grant Bridges, Tristan Bridges, Kristen Barnes, and Jennifer Barnes; four great grandchildren, Marley and Sutton Crownover, Andrew Gantt, and Meredith Bird, and two “favorite” nephews, Alex and Casey Youngerman.

Visitation with the Youngerman family will be Monday, June 19 from 3:00 – 9:00 pm at Pafford Funeral Home of Lexington and Tuesday from 11:00 am until time of services at New Hope Methodist Church.
