James “Jim” Edwin Fowler was the all-American kid who married a sorority girl from Vanderbilt. He was a cradle to grave Episcopalian as member of the Church of the Nativity in Huntsville, All Saints Church (Portsmouth, Ohio) and St. Thomas in Huntsville.
He was preceded in death by wife, Virginia Huth Fowler, father, Edwin Keen Fowler, mother, Edith Winckler Fowler, and sister, Martha Fowler Meeks. Survivors include three sons, James Edwin Fowler, Jr., David Keen Fowler, and Michael Alexander Fowler; and five grandchildren.
He served in the US Army Reserves as First Lieutenant. He was a professional civil engineer, with education from Huntsville High School and Auburn University. He built dams with the US Army Corps of Engineers and constructed buildings for Intergraph Corporation.
He loved boating and fishing, on the Ohio River and Lake Guntersville, Alabama. He was always industrious, with Erector sets as a child, and Heath Kit projects as an adult. Not only did he set the example for us, but he always found time to play. He will be sorely missed, but we celebrate his life with great appreciation and joy.
