Heidi B. Foreman
July 21, 1942 – November 12, 202
Mrs. Foreman died peacefully at home on Sunday, November 7, after a long, brave battle with cancer. During the years of her illness and treatment, in the face of many health challenges, she displayed constant courage and unfailing hope and faith. She remained spiritually strong and optimistic throughout these years.
Heidi and her family came to Huntsville in the mid-1950s as part of the space program. She attended local schools, then graduated from Samford University with a major in art. She returned to Huntsville in 2012 to care for her aging mother.
Heidi will be remembered for her many talents which included her gifts and skill as an artist. She will be remembered even more for her passion for horses and riding and for her horse farm which was a source of great enjoyment for her and her friends. But Heidi will be remembered most of all for her extraordinary vitality, her generosity, her loving nature, and her sheer joy in life.
As those who knew her are aware, Heidi had a great capacity for friendship. She offered the gifts of loyalty, honesty, and empathy in her relationships. Consequently, she is greatly loved and respected by all those who had the good fortune to know her well. As one friend has said, Heidi was “a person who glowed with love and light.” Indeed, she had an inner and outer radiance about her.
Heidi was devoted to her family and they to her. She is survived by her beloved husband, The Reverend Van Foreman, whose love and appreciation for her are beyond words to express, and who cherishes beyond measure the years of their beautiful marriage. She is survived also by her beloved son, Dr. Jeffrey Nelson, Lt Col, USAF, Retired (Lisa), a grandson, Stephen Nelson, a granddaughter, Jessica Nelson Muller (Joe), and a great-granddaughter, Rhea Johanna Muller.
Heidi was a devoted and active member of the Episcopal Church. A service for her will be held on Monday, November 22, at 11:00 am at the Episcopal Church of the Nativity in Huntsville. Heidi requested that, for the safety of all, masking and social distancing be observed at the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations or memorials may be made to the Church of the Nativity, or to an Episcopal church of your choice, or to the Clearview Cancer Institute in Huntsville.
