Grant awarded to help Madison County respond to domestic violence

offenders and help victims obtain protection orders when requested. The unit also works closely with the Huntsville Police Department and its Domestic Violence Task Force and Hope Place Inc., a shelter for domestic violence victims.

“Domestic violence can cause great harm to both families and communities,” Bentley said. “I commend the staff and volunteers of this unit for helping victims and bringing abusers to justice.”

The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs is managing the grant from funds made available to the state by the U.S. Department of Justice. ADECA administers a wide range of programs that support law enforcement and traffic safety, workforce development, energy conservation, economic development, water resource management and recreation development.

Bentley notified County Commission Chairman Dale Strong that the grant had been approved.
