MONTGOMERY-Governor Kay Ivey on Monday hosted the 132 Correctional Officer Trainees (COTs) who are set to graduate Thursday from the Alabama Department of Corrections (ADOC) Academy.

Governor Ivey met the graduates on the front steps of the Governor’s Mansion and offered her heartfelt thanks and congratulations.

The governor issued the following comment:

“Serving in any corrections system is tireless, serious law enforcement work, and I commend these 132 graduates for answering the call. When I took office in 2017, I made it a priority to address the longstanding challenges facing the Alabama Department of Corrections. Staffing has been a key component, and I am proud we have made tremendous strides to recruit and retain these officers. It is an honor to personally congratulate the men and women graduating this week.” – Governor Kay Ivey

On Thursday, April 23, 2026, at 10:30 a.m., the 132 COTs will graduate at the Montgomery campus of Church of Highlands. The officers satisfactorily completed 10 consecutive weeks of training to obtain Alabama Peace Officers’ Standard and Training Commission (APOSTC) certification to become Correctional Officers.
