It is with profound sorrow that we announce the unexpected passing of Glen Floyd. He departed this world on June 5, 2026, just shy of his 61st birthday.

Glen was born on June 12, 1965, in the serene landscape of Cherokee County, Alabama, to the late Calvin and Darel Floyd, who preceded him in death. He leaves behind his wife, Amanda, and his daughter, Savannah Floyd Gallagher, along with her husband Paul Gallagher. Glen’s family had a special place in his heart. He enjoyed traveling with Amanda every chance he could, but also found tranquility in quiet nights at home with her and their cat, Spooky. He also loved teaching Savannah everything he knew, from the intricacies of technology to the art of fishing, instilling in her the values of curiosity and perseverance.

In addition to his immediate family, Glen is survived by his cousins, Jerry Hilburn, Trace Hilburn, and Johnny Angle. Their shared memories and familial bonds are a testament to the enduring connections he valued throughout his life.

A graduate of Cherokee County High School, Class of 1983, Glen was a man of intelligence and innovation. For 25 years, he dedicated his professional life to managing technology at various healthcare facilities. Being on-call 24/7, his colleagues knew him as a problem solver, the person who could always be relied upon to make the impossible possible. He gave his all to his profession and his analytical mind was unparalleled, making his contributions invaluable.

Glen’s love for technology was matched only by his passion for the great outdoors. From the day Weiss Lake was first flooded, he found peace in its waters. His family holds many special memories of boat trips on the lake, casting lines in hopes of a bite or just soaking in the sun and enjoying each others company. Both his outdoor adventures and hours spent tinkering with electronics and vehicles in his shop were a testament to his boundless curiosity and zest for life. He was a lifelong learner, eagerly embracing new technologies and researching future innovations, always one step ahead.

Glen was a man who lived life to the fullest, his unique spirit touching everyone he met. Those who had the privilege of knowing Glen understood that he was truly one of a kind. Intelligent, loyal, and strong, he was a man whose essence can’t be fully captured by words, and whose absence will be deeply felt.

A visitation to honor Glen’s life will be held on what would have been his 61st birthday, June 12, 2026, at 4:00 PM-6:00 PM at New Hope Funeral Home, located at 2500 Oak Grove Road, New Hope, AL 35760. Family and friends are invited to join in celebrating the extraordinary life of a man who left an indelible mark on all who knew him.

In lieu of cut flowers, the family kindly requests live plants. Donations may also be made in Glen’s memory to a wildlife charity of your choice, inspired by his love of nature.

Glen Floyd will be missed beyond words, but his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those he touched. May he rest in peace, knowing he was deeply loved and will never be forgotten.
