Geneva Mae Shumate, 83 of Toney, Alabama died on Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at Huntsville Hospital in Huntsville, Alabama.
Born Saturday, July 27, 1929 in Clanton, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd Crowson and the late Mattie Abbott Crowson. She was a lifelong resident of this area and was a member of Mabel Hill Baptist Church.
She enjoyed working puzzles, watching TV and gardening. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband: Hershel Lee Shumate, a son: Danny Lee Shumate, and a brother: Lavoid Crowson.
Surviving are sons, Bobby Dale Shumate, Donnie James Shumate, and daughter, Juanita Shumate Neeley all of Toney, AL, brother, James Robert Crowson of Pensacola, FL, sister, Martha Crowson Jenkins of Ardmore, AL, seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Friday, April 5, 2013, at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Ardmore, Alabama with Dr. Mike Clark officiating. Burial will be in Madison Cross Roads Cemetery, Toney, AL. Pallbearers will be Joshua Shumate, Lee Shumate, Robbie Neeley, Justin Neeley, Brandon Gist, and Andy Whitt.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, April 4, 2013, at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Ardmore, Alabama.
