Floyd was born in Windsor, Colorado. He grew up on a farm and always loved the farm life. He graduated from Colorado A&M with a BS in Animal Husbandry. He met and married Ruth E. Pearson, his wife of 53 years, and soon joined the Army. They lived in many different states and also had a tour in Japan. During that time, LTC. Teller also served one year in Korea and one year in Vietnam. He and his family were stationed in Huntsville in 1973.

The Teller’s enjoyed the Huntsville area and Floyd decided to retire here in 1977 after 22 years in the Army. Not content to be idle in his retirement, Floyd loved wood working and opened a wood shop for several years. He and Ruth built a cabin in the Colorado mountains and enjoyed spending the summers in Colorado. He was a faithful care giver to his wife Ruth, after she suffered a cerebral hemorrhage in 1989. They continued to enjoy trips to Colorado and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Floyd and Ruth attended church in Huntsville and were faithful members for many years.
