evelynMemorial services for Mrs. Evelyn J. Cobb Loyd, 87, of Decatur were held on Wednesday 10 September, 2014 at 3 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Decatur with Pastor Jeff Parker officiating. Burial will take place today 11 September at Central Cemetery following a funeral service at The Emelle Community Church in Emelle, Sumter County. Service beginning at 10 a.m. with Pastor Jeff Parker officiating and Bumpers Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Loyd, who died Monday night 8 September, 2014 on the Hospice floor of Decatur Morgan Hospital, Decatur, was born in Meridian, MS on 14 October, 1926 to James Euell and Ruby Walker Johnson of York, Sumter County. Before retiring and moving to Decatur, Mrs. Loyd (then Mrs. Cobb) worked as a merchandiser and accountant for a family business in Sumter County that included a general mercantile store, cattle farm and retail clothing store. In Decatur, she was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and volunteer for CCC.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Mr. Elmer Seay “Hoot” Loyd of Decatur and previously her husband, Mr. Billy Murray Cobb of Sumter County; and her brothers, James Euell Johnson Jr. of Decatur and Harold Oscar Johnson of Hartselle.

Survivors include her brothers, Kenneth Rex Johnson, Ronald Eugene Johnson and Donald Bruce Johnson; sons, Tyrus Eugene Cobb, Michael Clay Cobb and Tom Murray Cobb; grandchildren, Jason Myrick, Clayton Cobb, Annah Cobb, Arin Cobb, Austin Cobb, Allison Cobb and Parker Welch; and great-grandchildren, Peyton Cobb, Jackson Cobb, Audra Cobb and Leah Cobb.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons and granddaughters.
