Evan Clarence Bowling – Obituary

The funeral for Evan Clarence Bowling, 90, will be Saturday, Oct. 24, 2015, at Parkway Funeral Home at 2 p.m. with Bill Becker and Steven Siebert officiating. Burial will be in Moulton Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Saturday, Oct. 24, 2015, from noon to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Bowling, who died Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2015, at ECM, was born Feb. 1, 1925, to Clarence Bowling and Girtha Bowling. He was a member of New Antioch Church of Christ. He was a minister at Landersville Church of Christ, Dancy’s Chapel Church of Christ, and New Antioch Church of Christ. He was a stranger to no one and friend to many. He proudly served during World War II. He enjoyed Alabama football and Atlanta Braves baseball. He was a home builder for 17 years and worked for the Lawrence County Board of Education.
He was preceded in death by son, Geary Bowling, brothers, Freeman Bowling, Ollie Bowling, Cullen Bowling, and Dewey Bowling, and sister, Myrl Bowling.
Survivors include wife of 68 years, Kathryn Bowling; son, Roger Bowling (Carol); daughter, Susan Johnson (Eric); brother, O.D. Bowling; daughter-in-law, Faye Bowling; sisters, Sue Johnson, Melba Montgomery, and Jean Parker; grandchildren, Rodney (Starla) Bowling, Amanda (Don) Gallardo, Jason Bowling, Ashley (Katie) Bowling, and Josh (Courtney) Bowling; and nine great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Rodney, Jason, Ashley, and Josh Bowling, Randy Moultrie, and Danny Darnell.
The family would like to acknowledge the management and staff of Green Oaks Assisted Living for their kindness and caring.
