Edna McDonald Higginbotham – Obituary

Edna McDonald Higginbotham, 100 of Athens passed away Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at Athens Convalescent Center. Mrs. Higginbotham was born August 14, 1915 in Limestone County, Al to John D. McDonald and Mae Sanders McDonald.

Services will be Sunday, November 29, 2015 2:00 p.m., at Sardis Springs Baptist Church with Tim Keenum officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Bottoms Cemetery. Limestone Chapel Funeral Home assisting the family.

Mrs. Higginbotham was a member of Sardis Springs Baptist Church. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mae McDonald; husband of 67 years, Bailey Gardner Higginbotham; son, Gerald Higginbotham; grandson, Donald Duane Higginbotham.

Survived by three sons, James Erskin Higginbotham and wife Mary, Douglas Higginbotham and wife Janice and Ray Higginbotham and wife Kaye all of Athens; 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Ryan Higginbotham, Alex Higginbotham, Chase Higginbotham, Chris Higginbotham, James Alan Hawkins and Dylan Gatlin. Honorary pallbearer will be Corey Higginbotham
