Mr. Romine was born April 6, 1954 in Limestone County to Dee Franklin Romine and Lola Simmons Romine. He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by one brother, Steve Romine and wife, Linda, and nephew, Aaron B. Romine and wife, Chelsey, along with many cousins. Tony attended the Developmental Centers in Decatur and Athens for 44 years, retiring last November. He attended Central Church of Christ of Athens where he cherished friendships, acceptance and freedom to be himself. He grew up in Athens on Grace Avenue but later lived with his brother and sister-in-law following the death of his parents. He grew to love shooting basketball at home and in the church gym along with listening to music on his radio and TV. He loved people and called many his friends, specially his “guys” whom he referred to as his pals from the Clements area. He rode four wheelers and went on golf outings with nephew, Aaron, and brother, Steve. He possessed many more favorable traits especially the relationship with his brother, Steve who called him “my best friend; my buddy; my brother.” Tony wanted to be referred to by all as “a good man” which he was.
Pallbearers are Jacob Williams, Aaron Romine, Steve Romine and Bradley Williams. Honorary pallbearers are Rusty Williams, Seth Humphries, Alan Humphries, along with many Birdie Thornton Center friends.
Thanks to loving caregivers Veronica and Bernita Atkins. Memorials may be made to the Birdie Thornton Center in Tony’s name.
