Donnie Lee Ponder went to be with his Lord and Savior February 28, 2026.
He was born on January 25, 1955 to Clyde and Ruth (Clemons) Ponder in Dewitt, AR. He married Linda Lou Russell on February 14, 1974 and had four children Jennifer, Matthew, Erin and Brian. Donnie’s greatest joy was serving the Lord. He was a Sunday School Superintendent as well as a Sunday School teacher. His love for the Lord made him generous with his time, energy and resources with no strings attached. He taught his children and grandchildren that very same principle. Donnie was a HVAC technician and owned his business in Spring Lake, NC.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Linda Russell Ponder; his children, Jennifer Lyn (Dene) Tilley and Brian Luke (Lotta) Ponder; three grandchildren, Miranda Cheryl Mack, Kindred Lee Ponder and Katrina Danielle Ponder; sister, Charlotte (William) Dees; brothers, Bobby Ponder and Billy (Bobbie Jean) Ponder and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by two children, Matthew Lee Ponder and Erin Leah Ponder; two grandchildren, Christian Brynnen Davis and Kristofer Blane Davis; sisters, Margaret Overton, Shirley Small, Betty Russell, Doris Winkler, Annetta Smith and Edith Ponder; brothers, Lonnie Ponder and Johnny Ponder and several nieces and nephews.
The family will hold a private memorial service and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Interment will be in Bush Cemetery.
