Donald Dean Dixon – Obituary

Donald Dean Dixon, 85 of Owens Cross Roads, passed away at his residence on July 11, 2014. Funeral Services will be on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Owens Cross Roads Baptist Church with burial to follow at Hampton Cove Funeral Home Mausoleum. Pastor Charles Miller will be officiating. The family will receive friends from Noon until service time. Hampton Cove Funeral Home is assisting the family. Mr. Dixon served in both the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force from September 25, 1946 to September 1, 1967. He was awarded many military medals including, Army of Occupation Medal, World War II Victory Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, A.F. Longevity Service Award with four bronze cluster and Good Conduct Medals. He served in various locations including Germany, Alaska, Japan, Saudi-Arabia, Hawaii, Vietnam, Thailand, Washington DC and etc. Mr. Dixon had several position of responsibility including being an instructor for over six years, assignments that required secret and top secret clearance.

Mr. Dixon is survived by his wife, Shirley J. Dixon; daughter, Shirley Thomas, Axtell, Kansas; sons, Donald Ray Dixon, Alexandria, VA. And Larry Dean Dixon, Frederick, MD; grandchildren, Christopher, Jessica Shana, Danielle and Deana; great-grandchildren, Claire and Joel; brother, Gary Wallis, N. Little Rock, AR. and aunt/sister, Ruby Wright, Tulsa, OK.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Alabama Baptist Children’s Home.
