A beloved son, Clinton Wadsworth White, 47, left us on Tuesday, July 21, 2026. Born June 28, 1979, he is survived by his children, Avery May Quyaksuwhaaq White and Elliot Walter Aqelqaghniighvik White of Anchorage, Alaska; his parents, Thomas Skinner White, III and Mary Wadsworth White of Florence, Alabama; his siblings, Mary Carlyle White Scholz “Marcy” (Marcus) of Munich, Germany and Thomas Spencer White (Julie) of Alpharetta, Georgia; his nieces and nephews: Frances Alexandra Scholz of Freiburg, Germany, Jasper Nicholas Scholz (Laura) of Rettenberg, Germany, Hans Carlyle Scholz of Munich, Germany, Thomas Charles Buchanan White “Tommy“ and Cameron Emory White of Alpharetta, Georgia, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He would want special recognition for Lea Myers of Huntersville, North Carolina, his closest friend and companion at the end of his life.
Clinton’s journey began in Charlotte, North Carolina and his childhood was spread among Charlotte and Durham, North Carolina, Columbus, Georgia and Florence, Alabama. In 1998 he graduated from Episcopal High School in Alexandria, Virginia and then persued a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography at NYU. Following graduation he enrolled for a year with the School for International Training and spent the next year in India, Nepal, and Tibet, travelling and researching little known sacred places of the Buddha. In his wandering he learned he had been an elephant in a former life, which may explain his love for animals.
Afterwards, he returned to Nome to work as a news reporter/music director at radio station KNOM. There he met his former wife and the mother of his children, Jonella Larson. After Nome, Clinton lived in Boston and completed his MBA at Babson’s F.W. Olin Graduate School of Business in 2008. At graduation, he received a standing ovation and the Rodger W. Babson Award for helping to install the first wind turbine on a college campus in the US.
Alaska called him back and he went to work for STG, Inc in Anchorage, a company focused on renewable energy. His first major project was the creation of a wind farm on an island near Anchorage. Fire Island Wind Farm is visible to everyone flying into that city and in its 10th year of operation. After his success at STG, Clinton became a Vice-President at Craig Construction and quickly turned around a failing division. At his core though, Clinton was an entrepreneur and always knew he would start his own business. He first tried indoor hydroponic farming because of the high cost of produce throughout the state and in 2016, started Enviroalaska, a company that transported and disposed of medical wastes. In 2018, he sold that company to his competitor and started Greatland Grocery and Supply. Greatland shipped food, supplies, medicine, clothes, and anything needed to remote rural locations. It was an immediate success. He sold it in 2023 when he moved to Charlotte and opened a Blue Kangaroo Packoutz there, helping those who needed items restored after fire, mold, or water damage. In 2026, Clinton founded Magnolia Labs, an AI company focused on integrating AI into working operations of small to mid-sized companies.
He adored his children and viewed them as miracles in his life. Some of his best stories came from travelling across America with his eight year old daughter and playing catch with his son. He brought curiosity and courage to life, from sky diving to wandering the world, and his many experiences taught him the value of simplicity and compassion. In Anchorage, Clinton became a Rotarian. For him, this was a defining moment, as he adopted the Four-Way Test as the foundation of his character, business dealings, and core values: Is it the TRUTH? Is it FAIR to all concerned? Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
As Clinton would probably say to us all: Be kind to all you pass as you never know what burdens they carry.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 29, 2026 at Trinity Episcopal Church, 410 North Pine Street, Florence, AL 35630, with a visitation starting at 10:00 AM.
