Heaven gained a loving man Jan. 4, 2014, when Charles “Lindy” Lindburgh Brown, 85, of Missouri City, Texas, passed through its gates.
He was the youngest of six, born to the late Garvin and Maude Brown, May 30, 1927, in Jasper, Ala. There he met his wife of 65 years, Lola Jean Nation, and they raised their family. In 1989, after retiring from Alabama Power, Lindy and Jean moved to Missouri City, Texas where they have lived within walking distance from their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Lindy was a dignified patriarch who leaves behind a set of values that he modeled until his death; sacrifice for family, take pride in everything you do, and always have time for a laugh.
His legacy is carried on by his brother, Bradford; sister, Oletta “Boots”; children, Steve, Renee, and Charlie; daughters-in-law, Trish and Kristine; grandchildren, Ben and Lindy; great-grandchildren, Samantha, Colt, Aurora, and Easton; and numerous other family and friends too numerous to list, but their lives equally touched and loved by all.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Margaret, Juanita, and Eugene.
Visitation will be held at Collins Burke Funeral Home Friday, Jan. 10, 2014, from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Mt. Philadelphia Baptist Church in Cordova, Ala. Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, at 1. The body will lie in state from noon-1.
