Charles Freddie GuiceCharles Freddie Guice, 81, of Albertville, AL, passed away on October 4, 2024.

Born on October 21, 1942, Freddie dedicated much of his life to service, both in his career and personal interests.

Freddie graduated from Geraldine High School before attending Jacksonville State University. His commitment to service was evident through his dual careers spanning 36 years with Bee Line Express and the Army National Guard, where he served honorably and embraced the camaraderie and discipline of the military.

A man of faith, Freddie was a long-standing member of Geraldine First United Methodist Church, where he participated in various community activities.

His hobbies in his early years included playing sports like football, basketball, baseball, and his favorite was softball. One of his proudest sports moments was being on the team to win the Alabama state championship slow pitch softball tournament at over 40 years old.

He also spent many years coaching his boys (and many other youth) in basketball, baseball, and even tried soccer. Later in life, he played golf and cherished time with friends and family, never missing an Alabama football or Atlanta Braves game when it was on television.

Freddie was a beloved husband of 32 years to his beautiful wife Joy Guice, father to Judd Guice and wife Candida, Chris Guice and Caryn Lee (son Kaiden Lee), Michelle Pankey and husband Wayne. His greatest pride was being a grandfather to Caitlin and Alec Guice, and Lexie and Kaylee Brown.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Judson and Autrice Guice and brothers, Wayne, Boyce, and Tommy Guice.

A service to celebrate Freddie’s life will be held at Carr Funeral Home in Boaz, AL on Wednesday October 9. There will be a brief Memorial Service at 4 PM followed by a receiving of friends and family until 7 PM.

His easy-going nature and simple approach to life will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Contributions in memory of Freddie can be made to Ronald McDonald House of Alabama, honoring his spirit of generosity and community.
