  Elsie Imaline Thomas Profile PhotoElsie Imaline Thomas was born March 7, 1932 in Adamsville, TN the daughter of the late Corbitt (Carve) and Elsie Louronia Hughes Cooksey.

 She was united in marriage to J. T. Thomas on March 14, 1953. Mr. Thomas preceded her in death on March 18, 1984, following 31 years of marriage.

Mrs. Thomas attended Bethlehem Elementary and graduated from Morris Chapel High School. Prior to her marriage she worked in the kitchen of City Cafe in Adamsville and retired from Garan, Inc., where she worked on the Inspection/Reprocessing line and was responsible for transferring goods in process from one station to another. Mrs. Thomas was a faithful member of Christian Assembly United Pentecostal Church in Adamsville, where she formerly taught Sunday School classes and served as the unofficial greeter for the congregation. She loved music and always enjoyed hearing her family sing. Painting, sewing, and traveling were among her favorite activities; she was a very talented artist and could make any kind of clothing without a pattern, including her daughter’s wedding dresses, bridesmaid dresses, and suits for her sons. Mrs. Thomas also enjoyed volunteering for RSVP and had served as a volunteer at Park Rest Hardin County Health Center for 25 years.

Mrs. Thomas departed this life on October 4, 2024 in Adamsville, Tennessee at the age of 92 Years, 6 Months, 27 Days. She is survived by a daughter, A. Diane (Thomas) Garner and husband Stanley of Huron, TN; three sons: Freddie W. Thomas and wife Lucy of Adamsville, TN, Richard A. Thomas of Melber, KY, and Bren W. Thomas and wife Lisa of Adamsville, TN; five grandchildren: C. Isaac Thomas of Adamsville, TN, Debra (Thomas) Cole of Adamsville, TN, Trent Thomas, USAF, and wife Emily, Latisha Thomas of Lexington, TN, and David Thomas of Houston, TX; six great-grandchildren: Katherine Thomas, Skiler Thomas, Madison Burks, Kevin Michael Zuhn, Cameron Durrance, and Christian Durrance; and special extended family David McEunn and wife Kim, Sandra Davis, Peggy Lowery, Anna Shank, and James Burns and wife Cheyenne.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Thomas was preceded in death by a brother, James Norvel Cooksey and wife Gertrude; a sister, Orthel (Cooksey) Laws and husband Alonzo; and a grandchild, Jessica Thomas.
