Charles Elmer “Bud” Wallace was called home to a grand family reunion on April 18th, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. His visitation will be Monday, April 20th, from 6-8 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Cherokee. The funeral service will be Tuesday, April 21st, at 12 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Bro. George Henley and Bro. Chuck Bradford officiating. Burial will follow in Harris Chapel Cemetery with Bro. Danny Russell officiating.
Mr. Wallace was a proud WWII veteran who was a seaman first class of the USS Walke DD7 1944-1946. He took great pride in serving his country. He was a lifelong resident of Colbert County, AL except for a short time in Fort Wayne, Indiana where he worked for Johnson Steel. His love for Alabama and his farming roots brought him back to reside in Colbert County where he was a member of Harris Chapel Baptist Church. He enjoyed and loved his church family.
Mr. Wallace was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Mary Lou Butts Wallace and three children, Charles Elmer Wallace Jr., Tamera Ann Wallace and Patricia Gail Wallace.
Mr. Wallace leaves daughters, Sarah Jones, Linda Murphy, and Robin Wallace Speegle; sons-in-law, Bill Jones and Robin Speegle; He was blessed with 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; one great-granddaughter on the way, Lyrik Athena Powell; brother, Jack Wallace; and sisters, Molly Malone and Maggie George.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Leamon Jones, Michael Jones, Mike Huhgie, and Joel Speegle, adopted grandsons, John and Chris Schlosser and Zac Sledge, and nephew, Curtis Wallace.
The family of Mr. Wallace would like to thank Southern Care Hospice and Dr. Ronald McCoy for their kind and loving care during his illness. A most special loving thank you to his loving caregiver, Naomi, “the smiles that you brought with you each day were shared when you walked in the room.” He will always love Flucome.
Thank you to Harris Chapel Cooking Angels for meals provided every Tuesday, the visits were always memorable and uplifting to him and his family.
