Funeral service for Charles D. Johnston, 79, of Somerville will be Saturday, November 29, 2014, at 3 p.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church with Dr. Charles Owens officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. at the church.
Mr. Johnston, who died Tuesday, November 25, 2014, at his residence, was born January 15, 1935, in Morgan County to James and Susie Mae Johnston. He was a member of Shiloh Baptist church for over 50 years. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Somerville VFD. He was an owner of Johnston Junction small engine repair and owned Charnel Kennels, boarding grooming and standard poodles.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Nell Weems Johnston; one son, Darryl Johnston (Vickie), Somerville; two daughters, Angela Dormagen (Andy), Huntsville and Joy Needham (Heath), Melbourne, FL; and three grandchildren, Braeden Needham, Corbin Needham and Mia Needham.
Pallbearers will be Kenneth Johnston, Kamen Johnston, Dormagen, Andy,
Lawrence Adair, James Truffa and Glenn Winton.
