Brooks Steele, 82, of the Endville Community passed away at 12:39 a.m., Sunday, September 6, 2026, at his home surrounded by his family, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Brooks was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, and he never met a stranger. Brooks was born on June 25, 1944, to Mildred Crouch Steele and Thammon Steele in Pontotoc County, Mississippi.
Brooks enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, and fishing and was at Endville General Store the remainder of the time drinking coffee with his buddies.
Brooks was a truck driver most of his life. He drove for Swift Transportation and Lane Transportation, and the last couple of years, before he got in bad health, he worked at Ken Jeter for his nephew, Jason Steele.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Sandra Steele, a son Terry Steele (Jeana) of Endville, two daughters, Carol Wilgus (Donnie) of Sherman, and Angelia Shields (Gene) of Endville. Nine Grandchildren: Chandler Steele (Jessica) of Endville, Wes Steele (Fiancé, Allyson Harrison) of Endville, Drake Steele (Elizabeth) of Thaxton, Dylan Steele of Endville, Drew Shields of Endville, Jon Wilgus (Rachel) and Samantha Taylor (Michael) of Auburn. Six Great Grandchildren: Jackson Steele, Marley Wilgus, Gunner Derek, Hagen Derek, Freyja Wilgus and Ronan Wilgus. A sister, Gail Steele of Endville, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mildred Crouch Steele and Thammon Steele, a sister, Hazel Steele, two brothers, Jimmy Steele and Robert Steele, and sister-in-law, Addie Frank Steele.
Pallbearers will be Chandler Steele, Wes Steele, Drake Steele, Dylan Steele, Drew Shields and Jason Steele.
Honorary pallbearers will be the coffee group and employees of Endville General Store.
Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m., Monday, September 7, 2026, all at Endville Baptist Church. Burial will be in Endville Cemetery.
