Barbara Gail Putman TrimbleBarbara Putman Trimble, age 80, of Arab, Alabama passed away peacefully at her home on December 13, 2025 after a long illness. Barbara was born in Cullman, Alabama, on October 22, 1945 to Wyatt and Gwendolyn (Webb) Putman.

Barbara grew up in Cullman and graduated from Cullman High School in 1963. Her life was forever changed when she met her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Wayne Trimble. Barbara and Wayne were married on January 21, 1967 and would have been married 59 years in January.

Barbara was a graduate of the University of Alabama with a degree in elementary education and earned a master’s in education from Alabama A&M University. Mrs. Trimble taught in Cullman County schools until her family moved to Arab in 1973. Barbara was a teacher at Arab Junior High School for 30 years, was named Teacher of the Year, was instrumental in bringing the hands-on science laboratory to AJHS and was beloved by her students.

Barbara was a member of the Arab First United Methodist Church for 52 years.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Wayne Trimble, daughters Alana Trimble Burks (Johnny) and Adi Trimble Hunt (Barry), granddaughters Abigail Jacobs (Preston), Mary Paige Lovell (Owen), and Natalie Hunt (Taylor Ferguson, fiancé), and great-granddaughters Lily Paige Jacobs and Anne-Frances Lovell.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wyatt and Gwen Putman and her brother, Randall Wyatt Putman.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 17 at the Arab First United Methodist Church from 12:00 noon-2:00 PM with the funeral service immediately following at 2:00 PM. Burial will be in Arab Memorial Cemetery with Brother Henry Prater and Brother Kenny Baskins officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Preston Jacobs, Owen Lovell, Taylor Ferguson, DeLan Trimble, Cannon Trimble, Sawyer Trimble, Tim Webb, and Mark Putman. Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel entrusted with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Hospice of North Alabama, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, or a charity of your choice.
