ATHENS-Athens Police Chief Floyd Johnson issued a statement concerning a shooting on Saturday, December 30:
“Saturday morning shortly before 6:00 the police department received a call of a vehicle hitting a utility pole on Jefferson Street near Market Street. When officers arrived they made contact with the driver of the car. The man told officers he had been shot and was driving himself to the emergency room when he hit the utility pole. He also told officers he was shot at Willowbrook Apartments on Henry Drive. The male was treated by Athens Limestone Ambulance Service and then flown to Huntsville Hospital by Med-Flight.
Today Investigator Kelly Fussell obtained a warrant for Patrick L. Johnson for assault first degree. Johnson is 23 years old, 5’6 and weighs 120 pounds. We haven’t been able to locate Johnson at this time and were asking if anyone knows his location to call the police department at 256-233-8700. The victim is a 54 year old male and continues to receive medical care at Huntsville Hospital. The investigation into this case is continuing at this time.”
