ATHENS-The Limestone County community held its annual Christmas parade, presented by Trustmark Bank, last Thursday (December 3). For those who missed the parade or want to re-watch, you can view a feed here: https://www.facebook.Betty Christopher, who has worked with the parade since 2004, served as grand marshal.
Entries who wished to be judged this year had the theme ‘A Christmas Wish – Love, Unity, and Community.’ Judges included representatives from the Limestone County EMA, Limestone County 911, and Athens-Limestone Hospital. Winners are as follows:
- Grand Prize – First Church Athens – Sponsored by Steelcase
- 1st Place – Athens First United Methodist Church – Sponsored by Beth Medley, Realtor – Keller Williams Realty Huntsville
- 2nd Place – Brody Jackson – State Farm Insurance Agent – Sponsored by Morell Engineering
- 3rd Place – Ridgeline Construction Roofing & Exteriors – Sponsored by Crawford’s Gifts
- Best Car/Truck – Persell Lumber and Mill – Sponsored by RE/MAX Valley – Roger Elmore and Deborah Lamb
The parade was organized by a partnership between the Greater Limestone County Chamber of Commerce, Blake Williams Communications, Athens Main Street, City of Athens, Alabama, Limestone County, Ala. – Commission, Athens-Limestone Tourism Association, Jerome and Tiffany Malone, and Maria A. Taylor.
