Arrest Made In Colbert County….Charges Span Three States

COLBERT COUNTY-A Fugitive From the law was apprehended by the Colbert County Sheriffs Department.  Here is how Sheriff Ronnie May describes the arrest:

“Brandon Heath Anaya, age 26, of 423 North 24th Street, Gadsden, Al has been charged with the following:     bond set at $25,000
 
Theft of Property 1st degree
Criminal Mischief 1st degree
 
     On 9-29-14 a report was filed with the CCSO stating the following:   On At approximately 8am the victim was coming back from checking his fields.  The victim noticed a hispanic man running out of a field.  The hispanic man was running towards the victim’s home.  The victim yelled for the man to stop but he did not.  When the victim got to his home the man had run into the carport and gotten into a 2008 ford escape.  In leaving in the escape the man backed into the family ford f-150 twice then drove away.  a short time later the ford escape was located in the woods near hwy 72 west.  The hispanic man was not with the car.  Law enforcement had already been looking for a hispanic male stemming from a high speed  pursuit that started in Selmar, Tn on Sunday 9-28-14.  The pursuit left Tn, crossed through Tishomingo County, Ms and end on Mill Creek Loop in Colbert County.  The male ran his car into the woods , jumped out and fled.  The suspect vehicle was a small grey compact.The suspect left the scene of an accident in Tn and rammed two Mississippi patrol cars before getting into Colbert County.  Colbert County authorities got a picture of Anaya from Tn authorities.  The photo was shown to the owner of the ford escape stolen earlier and Anay was identified as the man that stole the car.  Authorities searched for Anay on 9-28-14 and Monday 9-29-14.  At approximately Anaya was arrested near the four mile marker on hwy 72 west by deputy Mike Kumse.  A hold has been placed on Anay for Tn and Ms.
 
The Tn charges are 1) evading police by motor vehicle-felony, 2) vandalism, 3) reckless endangerment
The Mississippi charges are 1) Aggravated Assault on a police officer, 2) Aggravated Assault on a police officer, 3) DUI, 4)Drug Possession, 5) 16 traffic citations”
