Arnold O. Swindle – Obituary

arnoldArnold O. Swindle, age 90, of Tuscumbia, passed away Thursday, Nov. 5, 2015. His family will receive friends today, noon-2 p.m., at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. A celebration of life will follow in the funeral home chapel with Paul Swindle and Ed White officiating. Burial will be in Piney Grove Cemetery.

Mr. Swindle was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert and Katie Swindle; brothers, Raymond, Franklin, Woodrow and Houston Swindle; and his sisters, Carolyn Staggs and Pauline Mickler.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Bonnie Malone Swindle, of Tuscumbia; sons, Edward Swindle (Vicki), of Hanover, Maryland, and Jason Swindle (Rebecca), of Tuscumbia; daughter; Beverly King (Donny), of Sheffield; sisters, Mary Posey, of Cherokee, and Dorothy Archer, of Tuscumbia; grandchildren, Brooke Pigg and Todd, Josh King and Jakob Swindle; and great-grandchildren, Mason and Savanna Pigg.

Mr. Swindle served in the U. S. Navy during World War II and the Korean conflict. He loved his country and was a staunch supporter of the U. S. military. He was a disabled veteran and was a lifetime member of the DAV. He was retired from TVA and was owner/operator of Arnold’s Produce and Swindle’s Convenience Store for many years. Mr. Swindle also worked at Western Auto and Foodland in his later years. He loved God and was a member of Valdosta Church of Christ and previously a member of Frankfort Road Church of Christ for a number of years.

He loved Auburn University, Auburn football and especially gardening, and mowing his grass.

Pallbearers are Josh King, Donny King, Todd Pigg, Dan Mickler, Michael Byrd and Joey Archer.

Arnold’s family would like to express a special thanks to Gentiva Home Health, Gentiva Hospice, Dr. Brian Richards, Dr. Laurence Carmichael, Dr. Lynn Ridgeway, Dr. Michael Yordy and Helen Keller Hospital.
