Anthony “Tony” Simeone, 95, of Toney, AL passed away Monday. He grew up in Ohio and started his career with McDonald Douglas in Westminster, CA. In 1966, he moved his family to Huntsville to work with the space program at NASA, helping to put man on the moon.

Today’s generation have no idea what an important part dance halls played in keeping up the morale of soldiers during war times. Just after the end of WWII while serving in the Navy, Tony was attending such an event and spotted Ruth Cooper, a young nursing student, across the floor. It was love at first sight. They married and spent 75 wonderful years together. He adored his wife and spent later years as her primary caregiver. He loved being on his tractor and working in his garden.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Leornard Simeone and his son-in-law, Dr. Ray Sheppard.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Simeone; daughters, Mary Simeone Hutto (Lamar) and their children, Jenny and Ben, Nancy Simeone Sheppard and children, Ray Jr., Adam, and Carmella, Carmella Simeone Shook and her son Micah, and son, Louis Charles Simeone, his children Anthony, Joseph and Mary Kathleen and their mother, Maryanne Simeone. Tony is also survived by 18 great grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Laughlin Service Funeral Home followed by a service at 1:00 p.m. with Father Joseph Lubrano officiating. Burial will be in Huntsville Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to a charity of your choice in his memory.
