Mrs. Janet P. Spears passed into her eternal life January 15, 2024, following a long illness. She was born in Jackson, MS and graduated from high school in Virginia. She was active in girl scouts as a young adult. As an Army brat, she was able to visit numerous countries and especially liked following The Royal Families, after having lived in England. She was a director and teacher at the Mother’s Day Out Program at Faith Presbyterian Church. Babies had a special place in Jan’s heart. She also loved elephants and had a nice collection of miniatures. John and Jan took day trips to many locations and enjoyed vacationing at the beach.

She was pre-deceased by her parents, Col. (ret.) and Mrs. Marvin D. Parker.

Survivors include her husband, John; daughters Cheryl Adams (Chris) and Amy Martz (Jason); grandchildren, Reece Adams, Avrie Adams, and Zachary Martz (JoJo), all of Huntsville; sisters, Diane Phillips of Anniston, AL and Jill McKinney (Bill) of Bradenton, FL; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service is planned at a later date at Faith Presbyterian Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Faith Presbyterian Church Preschool, 5003 Whitesburg Dr., Huntsville, AL 35802, or The Presbyterian Home for Children, P.O. Drawer 577, Talladega, AL 35161.

Thanks to all who have offered up prayers on Jan’s behalf while she has been ill.
