Ann Marie Hutchison Kyle, 49 of Athens, AL passed away Wednesday, February 11, 2026. After a more than three year battle with cancer she left this earth, and entered into the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ. She died peacefully at home surrounded by her family.Ann was born April 3, 1976 in Millington, TN to John and Martha Hutchison. John’s navy career took them to Rota, Spain. Ann would spend her early years on the coast of Spain before the family moved to Chattanooga, TN.
Ann attended Tennessee Temple Academy. Ann was an excellent student and involved in many activities including playing on the volleyball and basketball team. Ann and her family attended Highland Park Baptist Church. She was an active member of the youth group and choir. She was also a member of New Life Singers for many years, a group that would travel during the summer to perform at churches and events.
Ann would continue her education at Tennessee Temple University. She graduated with a B.A. in Business Administration in May 1996. In the fall of 1997 she decided to return to college to continue her education. She would meet Matthew on the first day of classes. They became friends, but did not begin to date until the next fall. It did not take long after their first date in October of 1998 for them both to realize they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together. Matthew would propose the next spring. Ann graduated with a B.S. in Business Administration in May 1999. After graduation Ann managed Tennessee Temple’s Alumni office where she had worked part time through school.
Ann and Matthew were married August 14, 1999 in Chattanooga. In June of 2000 they welcomed, Lyndsay, the first of their three children into the world. It was not the timing they planned, but as they would see many times over the years, God gave them what they needed even before they knew they needed it.
In August of 2000 they would move to Birmingham, AL to start a career with Chick-fil-A. Ann quickly learned the business and helped Matthew lead, develop, and love their team. After two years they would move to Huntsville, AL to open the Chick-fil-A at Parkway Place Mall. Ann was once again instrumental in building and developing a great team. In March of 2004 they welcomed, Landon, their second child into the world. After Landon was born Ann retired from Chick-fil-A and moved into her favorite role as a full time Mom. In 2007 Ann and Matthew would move to Athens to open the Chick-fil-A restaurant there. After both kids started school Ann would return to the restaurant to manage the office.
In 2001 God had put the idea of adoption into Ann and Matthew’s heart. The time was not right, but the seed was planted. In 2010 they began the adoption process. In May 2012 they welcomed, Addie, their third child into their home. Ann would return home to her favorite role of caring and nurturing her children.
Ann loved her family and every minute with her kids. Ann was an amazing mother, who was always so proud of each of her kids. Whatever the kids did or were involved in she was there. Whether it was a ball game, dance recital, field trip, school party, or any other activity they knew Ann would be there to support them. It was easy to see her love for her family.
One of her passions was cooking for her family and whoever else joined them at the table. If you had the opportunity to enjoy a meal from Ann you knew she was an excellent chef. To her kids she will always be “The best cooker ever”. She passed this love on to each of her kids who are also talented in the kitchen.
More than her love for cooking and food Ann loved Jesus. She wanted her kids and everyone she knew to know Him. She was not going to pressure you into it. If you were around Ann you experienced her kindness, grace, caring heart, compassion, and gift of genuine hospitality. She had an ability to see when someone needed encouragement and act on it. It may be a kind word, note, text, gift, or whatever was appropriate for the moment. Ann was special because she could make everyone around her feel special. Ann would not just tell you about Jesus, but you would experience Jesus through Ann’s life. While we feel Ann’s life was too short her legacy and influence will ripple through lives for generations to come.
“An excellent wife who can find? She is far more precious than jewels. The heart of her husband trusts in her,” Proverbs 31:10-11
“Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all.” Proverbs 31:28-29
Ann is survived by her husband, Matthew Kyle, and their children Lyndsay, Landon, and Addie; her parents John Hutchison and Martha Hutchison; and her siblings Randy Brazie (Preston), Leah Anderson (Eric), Jessica Weldy (Scott), John Hutchison, Jr. (Talya), Taylor Hutchison.
