Ann Geiger Maulsby – Obituary

Ann Geiger Maulsby, 88, passed away Wednesday. She was born Ann Osteen Geiger in Augusta, Georgia and grew up in Atlanta. She graduated in the last class of Girls High in Atlanta. She was married to Jesse Robinson Maulsby in Atlanta in 1949 and lived in Huntsville and Madison County, Alabama for most of her life. Ann participated in various community activities, volunteering at the Huntsville-Madison County Public Library, WLRH public radio and Meals on Wheels.  She was a dulcimer and recorder player, an amateur photographer, and a member of the local storytelling group.  She received a certificate in Early Childhood Education from the University of Alabama in Huntsville and published several books on local history, including “Children of Industrial Huntsville, 1908-1915” and “Merrimack Cemetery, Huntsville, Alabama.”  She was an avid crafter and quilter.  Friends remember her as an energetic promoter of cultural activities in her community.

She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Jesse Robinson Maulsby, her two sons, Curtis (wife, Nellie) of Madison and Steve (wife, Helen Harrison) of Silver Spring, Maryland, a granddaughter Olivia Maulsby of Maryland, a brother, Douglas Geiger (wife, Linda) of Monroe, Georgia, and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial service will be at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 21, 2018.

Memorials may be made to the Huntsville Public Library or to The Alzheimer’s Association, 117A Longwood Drive, Huntsville, AL 35801.
