James ElmoreJames O. Elmore, 91 of the Dilworth community, passed away Friday Aug. 14, 26 at his home.
Mr. Elmore was a retired Coal miner from the Bankhead Mine. He was a member of the UMWA. He was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army.
James was a devoted husband and father. He pushed himself to the limit to make sure that his family was cared for. He was the definition of a family man. If anyone needed help, he knew how to help. If it was broken, he could fix it. It didn’t matter what it was, whatever you brought him, he could fix it. All he ever cared about was making sure the people he loved were taken care of. Right up until the last day, at 91 years old, he was still working on things and doing everything he could to make sure the people he loved were well cared for. His loss will be felt deeply for many years.
Graveside service and interment will be Wednesday Aug. 19, 26 at 10:30 am at Oak Hill Cemetery in Jasper. Bro. Buddy Sparkman will officiate. The family will receive friends from 9-10 am at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his son, James Wayne Elmore; parents, Otis and Evie Elmore; father and mother-in-law, Andrew and Lorene Roberts and his sisters, Hazel Townsend and Dorothy Thursby.
Survivors include his wife of 72 years, Mrs. Ila Faye Elmore; daughter, Andrea Elmore; son, Jason Elmore and wife Brooke; granddaughter, Micayla Smith; great grandson, Ezra Oddys Smith; daughter-in-law, Margaret Elmore, nephews, Clyde Robbins and wife Sheila and Douglas Roberts and wife Cecelia; niece, Patsy Self and husband Steve; several other relatives and many friends.
