Jack Elton AtkinsJack Elton Atkins, 85, passed away on May 2, 2026, at Walker Rehabilitation. He was born in Carbon Hill, Alabama, and spent his life with a deep love for his family and a strong work ethic.

Jack was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Bernice Atkins; his daughter, Sharon Prescott; his parents, Ruth and Mose Atkins; his twin brother, Joe Atkins; brothers Aaron and Ralph Atkins; sisters Louise Kimbrell, Nancy Sanders, and Margie Atkins; and grandson Luke Atkins.

He is survived by his children, Jeff Atkins (Misty), Rick Atkins (April), and Connie Plocinski (Tony). He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Tiffany Lawrence (Jacob), Jenny Gish (Ryan), Makenna Atkins, Jacqueline Atkins, Tyler Atkins (Brittany), and Brian Plocinski. Great-grandchildren include Cooper, Carter, Callie, Adalynn, Sophia, Theo, Ben, and McKenzie.

Jack is also survived by his sister-in-laws, Debra Atkins and Joyce Atkins, his special nieces, Kristy McGinnis whom he lovingly considered his favorite person, Angie Threadgill and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Jack will be fondly remembered for his sense of humor and the joy he brought to others. He especially loved making people laugh, often alongside his twin brother, Joe, together they shared a special bond and a gift for lifting the spirits of everyone around them.

Those serving as pallbearers will be Eric McGinnis, Carson McGinnis, Samuel Aaron, Tyler Atkins, Brian Plocinski, and Jonathan McGinnis. Honorary pallbearers are Cooper Lawrence and Carter Lawrence.

Services will be held at Collins Burke Funeral Home on Wednesday May 6, 2026. Visitation will be from 1-2pm with the funeral service beginning at 2pm. No graveside service will be held.
