Notice for Haskel Reburn Kitchens

Haskel Reburn Kitchens, 84, went home to meet his Lord and Savior early Friday morning, April 24, 2026, from the comfort of his home. He was born August 3, 1941, in “the promised land across 20 Mile Bottom” in Itawamba County to James Wesley and Pearl Dale Bridges Kitchens. The youngest of 16 siblings, Haskel served six years in the Army National Guard and worked as a barber for 39 1/2 years.  Haskel was a devoted member of Tombigbee Baptist Church. He was an avid Ole Miss fan and enjoyed bird and squirrel hunting and visiting the Great Smoky Mountains.

 

Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 26, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Mantachie with Bro. Joseph Jones, Bro. Douglas Kitchens, and Bro. Bill Lee officiating.  Burial will be in the Keyes Cemetery.

 

Survivors include his wife of 56 1/2 years, Sandra Carol McMillen Kitchens; his daughter, Susan Camille Kitchens; his granddaughter, Emmalee Carol Johnson; one brother, James Kitchens (Phyllis); three sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Louise Kitchens, Janice Lee and Bro. Bill, and Gail Reich and Randy, who was Haskel’s caregiver and right-hand man; and a host of nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Wesley and Pearl Bridges Kitchens; his parents-in-law, Gene and Mildred Barrett McMillen; twelve brothers, Marvin, Earl, Harley, S.A. “Tint,” Elmie, Dexter, Gaddis, Talmadge, Ullie, J.W., Wilburn, and Bob; and two sisters, Burton Kitchens Moreland and Vernelle Kitchens.

 

Pallbearers will be Roy Kitchens, Stanley Kitchens, Glen Kitchens, Phillip Kitchens, Josh Kitchens, Barry Kitchens, Chris Reich, and Rhett Reich.

 

Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Christian, Kelcie Shields, Randy Reich, James “Red” Jones, and Steve Moreland.

 

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time Sunday at McNeece-Morris Funeral Home in Mantachie.
