Born in Lebanon, Kentucky on December 2, 1931, Margaret Carolyn Lindberg was the daughter of Oscar and Margaret Combs. Margaret’s father was a Naval dentist during the latter part of WWII, which gave the family many new cities to move to. One of the many ports was in Beaufort, NC where Margaret met her future husband, William J Lindberg.
William was preparing to attend The Citadel after which he would serve in Korea. Margaret and William married in 1951 in Rhode Island. In 1953, William received his master’s in engineering from Purdue University. That same year, their daughter, Lorri was born. Upon graduation the family moved to the High Points area in Huntsville, Alabama where William began his well decorated career with the Army Missile Laboratory at Redstone Arsenal. A son, Jon Peter, was born in 1956 and shortly thereafter after, the family moved to create a beautiful farm in Madison County.
For 70 years they designed and added to the house and farm creating a wonderful space to raise a family. Margaret became a great mother, wife, fashion model, owner of Lindberg Modeling agency and school, creator of fashion spreads in the Huntsville Times, a guide at the Twickenham Museum, and supporter of various Huntsville political campaigns.
In the early 80’s, Margaret began writing for the Huntsville Times’ Society Page. For over ten years she reported on social occasions and charitable events. She also sat on the board of the Huntsville Symphony for a number of years helping to make one of the most successful symphonies in the South.
During the 90’s and 2000’s William and Margaret focused the partnership on their shared love of classical music. The Lindberg Farm evolved into a very popular music salon that supported many wonderful classical musicians. They created a lovely space for small, intimate evenings filled with beautiful music.
Jon Peter passed May 6, 2021. William passed away July 11, 2021. Margaret passed April 18, 2026, after a short illness. They will be sorely missed by their only surviving daughter, Lorri Lindberg Bell; their daughter-in-law, Cathy Lindberg; granddaughters, Lauren, Molly and Lauren; and great-granddaughter, Maeve.
Diane Spiegel cared for Margaret during these past three years. Diane will always have a special place in our hearts for her loving support.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 22, at 2 pm at Maple Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Huntsville Symphony or the Huntsville Chamber Music Guild.
