Rickey Cecil Hopkins, 61, passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at NMMC-Tupelo, MS. Born on October 17, 1964, in Pontotoc, MS, Rickey was affectionately known as the world’s oldest cub scout. He cherished friendships with people of all ages and was deeply loved by many.
Rickey dedicated over thirty years of his life to working in construction, specializing in petroleum installation. After retiring, he enjoyed hauling rock, fishing, camping, and spending quality time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife, Christina Hopkins, his sons Wesley Swan (Dot), Rickey W. Hopkins, and Anthony W. Hopkins, and his bonus grandson, J.J. Tackitt. He is also survived by his mother, Helen Hatton, his in-laws Milton and Tammy Milling, his brother Marty Hopkins (Shelly), and his sisters Judy Degraw and Shelia Cone.
Rickey was preceded in death by his father, Cecil Chambers, his adoptive father, Jerry Hopkins, and his beloved ‘bubba’, Anthony Parham.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at 2PM at Troy First Baptist Church, with visitation beginning at 12PM. Bro. Brock McWhirter will be officiating the service.
