Cane Creek Canyon Spring Kickoff Fundraiser

TUSCUMBIA-Join us at Cane Creek Canyon Nature Preserve for a fun-filled day with something for everyone on April 25 from 9:30am until 4:30pm! Hike scenic trails, explore the creek and its wildlife up close, enjoy live music by The Cliftones, try your hand at archery, and take in the beautiful wildflowers. A lunch provided by the CCCNP Advisory Board will keep you fueled for all the adventures.

This event is free to attend, but donations are encouraged to support the preserve’s ongoing maintenance. Don’t forget your blanket or camp chair for seating.

Event Schedule

Yoga: 9:30 – 10 AM

Start the morning off with a relaxing yoga session.

Upper Loop Hike: 10:00 – 11:30 AM
(Difficult: Easy to moderate- approximately 2 miles)

Take a guided hike to Lacefield Falls, Lacefield Point, and Canyon Rim Trail. Hike Leader: Patrick Shremshock and S. Dollar. Hikers are required to sign a waiver to participate.

Music: 11:30 AM

Music by The Cliftones! Bring a blanket or camp chair and enjoy the sweet music of the Cliftones.

Lunch: 12:00 PM

CCCNP Advisory Board will provide hotdogs, condiments, chips, fruit, drinks.

Critters in the Creek: 1:00 PM
(Difficulty: Easy – less than 1 mile)
This event will include sampling and identification of the macroinvertebrates that inhabit Waterfall Creek. Participants are encouraged to wear water shoes. This is a hands-on activity for the whole family. Event Leader: Kara Million. Hikers are required to sign a waiver to participate.

Wildflower Hike: 2:00 – 3:30 PM
(Difficulty: Easy to moderate – approximately. 2 miles)
Hikers will be engaged in this hike through their guided exploration of the wildflowers in full bloom. Hikers are encouraged to take as many pictures as they wish but no picking, please! This hike will start off above the canyon before making our way to the Boulder Garden area. We will conclude by hiking back out of the canyon at a leisurely pace. Hikers are encouraged to bring a refillable water bottle and a hiking stick. Hike Leader: Patrick Shremshock and S. Dollar. Hikers are required to sign a waiver to participate.

Archery 101 & Tournament: 3:30 – 4:30 PM
Join the archery instructor to learn how to properly and safely use archery equipment. All participants MUST be at least 10 years or older. Younger aged children may not be able to draw back the bow safely. Archers are required to sign a waiver to participate and are expected to follow the instruction of the instructor and adhere to the standards of safety. All equipment will be provided.

4:30 PM
Event concludes with everyone making sure that we leave no trace.
