Mr. Edward Glen Newell, age 66, of Vernon, AL, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at Fayette Medical Center DCH.
Mr. Newell was born February 25, 1960, in Augsburg, Germany, to the late James Charles and Edna Wynell (McCool) Newell. He was an auto mechanic, and was also preceded in death by his grandson, Brandon McKee; his brother, Mike Newell; and his grandparents, Homer and Beulah Mae Newell, and Loventrice Pierce and J.T. McCool.
Funeral services will be Saturday, April 11, at 2:00 PM, in the chapel of Chandler Funeral Home, with Charles Gilbert and Brian Reeves officiating. A graveside service will follow at Walnut Grove. Visitation will be 1:00-2:00 prior to the service.
Active pallbearers will be Conner Peoples, Haigen McSpadden, Charles Newell, Riley Newell, Christopher McKee, and Nathan McKee. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff at Fayette Medical Center-DCH, Dr. Brooks, Dr. Thomas, Dean Baxter, and Access Hospice of Jasper.
Survivors include two daughters, Mindi Newell and Tanya Hensley; one son, Glenn Newell, Jr.; his wife, Jeannie Newell; one sister, Denise Newell; one brother, Chuck Newell; 10 grandchildren, Haigen McSpadden, Tommy McSpadden, Christopher McKee, Nathan McKee, Conner Peoples, Charles Newell, Riley Newell, Mason, Newell, Weston Newell, and C.J. Barnes; two great-grandchildren, Zephyr and Zinnia McKee; and a host of nieces and nephews.
