Joann Patterson, 90, of Lineville, Alabama, passed away on April 4, 2026. Born on May 16, 1935, in Atlanta, Georgia, Joann lived a full and beautiful life defined by her love for family, her generous spirit, and a smile that never seemed to leave her face.

Joann was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who poured her heart into everything she did. She spent her years raising three children and building a home filled with warmth, laughter, and more than a little good cooking. If you knew Joann, chances are you had a plate of her home cooking in front of you at some point, and if you were really lucky, you got to taste her famous biscuits or fried apple pies. She had a gift for making people feel welcome and cared for, and she never missed an opportunity to use it.

Beyond her love for people, Joann had a deep and abiding love for animals that most folks could never quite understand. Horses, donkeys, dogs, and just about any creature that needed a home found one with her. She had a tender heart for animals of all kinds and gave them the same warmth and devotion she gave to everyone in her life. Her passions for cooking and caring for her animals kept her busy and brought her tremendous joy.

Joann was preceded in death by her husbands, V. W. Patterson and Jerry Lockridge, and her beloved daughter, Deborah Ann Porter.

She is survived by her son, James Patterson; her daughter, Judy Henderson; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, extended family, and dear friends whose lives were made brighter by knowing her.

Joann held a quiet faith that gave her peace and comfort throughout her life. Those who loved her find solace in knowing she is now at rest, reunited with the ones who went before her.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Ashland City Cemetery. Family and friends are welcome to gather and celebrate the life of a woman who never met a stranger, never turned away a soul in need, and never stopped smiling.

A reception will follow with family and friends TBD
