Andre David Echevarria, 28, of Decatur, Alabama, passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2026. He was born on March 20, 1998, in Dunkirk, New York. Andre was a 2016 graduate of Arab High School, a 2018 graduate of Wallace State Community College and had attended courses at UAB. Andre was employed for 8 years with Texas Roadhouse initially in Alliance, Ohio, and most recently in Decatur, Alabama, as a Team Point.
Andre had a heart that was rooted deeply in family, and nothing brought him more joy than being surrounded by the people he loved. When it came to his goddaughters and younger siblings, Andre embraced the role of caregiver, protector, and playful companion with a natural warmth that drew them to him. He had a special gift for making children feel safe, seen, and cherished—whether he was spending time with his younger siblings or stepping in to help with his goddaughters, nieces and nephews. His patience, kindness, and gentle spirit made him someone both children and adults trusted completely.
Andre was an avid gamer whose love for video games and tabletop adventures brought him even closer to those he cared about. Whether he had a controller in hand or was gathered around a table, he found joy in sharing those moments with his siblings and loved ones. He especially enjoyed playing Dungeons & Dragons and Magic: The Gathering, where his imagination, humor, and quick thinking truly came to life. Those games were more than just hobbies—they were a way for him to connect, laugh, and create lasting memories with the people around him.
Time spent gaming with him was filled with laughter, friendly competition, and a sense of togetherness that made everyone feel included. He had a way of making each person feel welcome, whether they were experienced players or just learning the game. His enthusiasm was contagious, and his presence made every gathering brighter. The memories created during those shared adventures will be cherished by his siblings and all who had the privilege of playing alongside him.
Andre took great pride in being a steady presence in his family and friends’ lives. Whether he was babysitting, sharing laughs, or simply being there when they needed him, he showed up with a full and generous heart. The bond he shared with his goddaughters and younger siblings was a reflection of who he was at his core—devoted, loving, and selfless. His legacy lives on in the memories he created, the care he gave so freely, and the deep love he had for his family and friends.
