It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Billy Charles Alverson, who peacefully departed from this world on February 16, 2026. Born on July 27, 1947, Billy led a life marked by dedication, service, and loyalty. Billy was a devoted mail carrier for the USPS, delivering mail and brightening the days of many in his community over the years. Prior to, his postal service, he bravely served his country in the United States Army, proudly participating in the Vietnam War. His commitment to duty and honor served as a shining example to all who knew him. Billy loved his Lord and Savior Jesus most of all. He graduated from Pensacola Bible Institute in 1983. Billy is survived by his beloved wife, Kathy Alverson, his cherished daughter, April Alverson, and his dear siblings: Dennis (Myra) Alverson, Joe (Teresa) Alverson, Terry (Dorothy) Alverson, Sue Alverson, and adopted daughter Jessica Thacker, along with several nieces, nephews, family, and friends. He is predeceased by his loving parents, Mr. and Mrs. David and Bernice Alverson, and his siblings Rex Alverson, Bobby Alverson, Peggy Alverson, as well as his sister-in-law, Martha Alverson. Billy’s legacy of service and love will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him. His presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will be cherished eternally. May he rest in eternal peace.
Visitation Thursday, February 19, 2026 12pm-2pm, funeral service, Thursday, February 19, 2026, 2pm with Warren G Jones III and Brian Kelly officiating. Burial to follow a Guntersville City Cemetery.
