Richard Nelson Brady, Jr, age 82, of Albertville, Alabama passed away Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at Shepherd’s Cove Hospice. Richard was born August 25, 1943 in Tennessee.

Richard Brady was deeply loved by his family, especially his wife, Mary. Richard and Mary were always together. They met 15 years ago and were never apart from that day on. Their love and devotion to each other were clear to everyone who knew them.

Richard proudly served his country for many years in the United States Marine Corps. His service took him all over the world. He spent three years in Baghdad, Iraq, serving at the U.S. Embassy as a Marine. He also lived three years in Turkey and eight years in Alaska, where he owned a gun shop. Richard loved hunting in Alaska and often shared stories about his time there.

Though he had many experiences through the Marines and his travels, Richard made his home with Mary in Albertville, Alabama, in 2011. Soon after, they began attending the Alder Springs church of Christ, just minutes from their home. Richard and Mary quickly grew to love the church family there, and everyone loved them in return. They were active in many church activities, and Richard’s passing is a great loss to the congregation.

Richard knew God’s Word well and had a deep love for the Lord’s church. He prayed beautiful, heartfelt prayers, often remembering war-torn countries around the world. He cared deeply for others and looked for every chance to teach someone about Jesus.

Richard was not afraid of death because he trusted that his sins had been washed away by the blood of Jesus Christ. He was humble in life and confident in death.
Philippians 1:21–23 fits Richard’s life well:
“For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain… having a desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better.

Richard is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Brady; son, Richard Brady, III (Sherry); daughter, Kaye Moorer; stepson, Billy Hyatt; grandchildren, Adam Phillips and Alicia Batson; sister, Carol Comeau (John Roser); and son-in-law, Larry Phillips.
He is preceded in death by his father, Richard Brady, Sr. and stepdaughter, Angela Phillips.

Services for Richard will be Monday, February 16, 2026 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel. Visitation with the family will be 11:00am until the funeral service at 1:00pm. Brother Mark Hastings will officiate. Serving as pallbearers and escorting Mark to his final resting place in Oden Ridge Cemetery in Eva, AL will be Bryan Breedwell, Thomas McClendon, Ben Hastings, David Hand, Tim McClendon and Kevin Satterfield. Honorary pallbearers are Verbon Miles and Farmer Parsons. Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel entrusted with arrangements.
