Darrell Wayne King, Sr., age 68, of Lewisburg, Tennessee, passed away Friday, January 30, 2026, at his residence.
He was born July 21, 1957, in Houston, Texas, to the late Eldon and Mau Armstreet King. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Lamar and Dewey King and two sisters, Linda Stevenson and Beverly King.
He is survived by his wife, Annie Sawyer; daughter Kimberly (Grant) DuPlessis of Primm Springs; sons, Wayne (Mindy) King of Phoenix, AZ, and Krecia James; grandchildren, Monica Thyen, Alissa Thyen, Juliana Contreras, Cruz Estrada, Kacey King, Tessa King, Aiden Penrod, Conor Penrod, Jessica James, and Nickolas James.
He was self-employed as a carpenter and developed a reputation for quality craftsmanship and reliability. Beyond the workshop, playing pool was a favorite pastime. He enjoyed playing pool with friends which provided him both relaxation and friendly competition. Central to his life was a strong devotion to family. Time spent with children and grandchildren was cherished, whether it was sharing stories, celebrating milestones, or simply enjoying each other’s company.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his memory be made to a charity of your choice that benefits pets or other animals.
