William “Billy” Patrick Adkins, 75, of Huntsville, Alabama passed away on January 17, 2026, in Huntsville, Alabama.

 

Visitation will be held at Mayfair Church of Christ on January 22, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., followed by the funeral at 2:00 p.m., with Joe Essner of Mayfair Church of Christ officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery, 202 Maple Hill Street SE Huntsville, Alabama 35801.

Billy was born in Huntsville, Alabama to the late Marie Rose McKenna and the late James Adkins on August 30, 1950. He went to high school at New Hope High School and graduated in 1970. He was employed by the federal government on Redstone Arsenal as an illustrator for 30 years. Subsequently, he worked for multiple private defense contractors for 14 years. He had many interests and hobbies over the years. He was an accomplished artist. He enjoyed fishing and Alabama football. He enjoyed making fishing lures and tying flies for fly fishing. He was a bonsai tree enthusiast, often cultivating bonsai trees from seed. He was faithfully involved in the security ministry at Mayfair Church of Christ.

Billy is survived by his wife, Dianne Adkins of Huntsville, Alabama; daughters, Alison McCutcheon (Matt) of Huntsville, Alabama and Laura Prater (Kurt) of Gulf Shores, Alabama; brother, James “Butch” Adkins; sister, Julie Arsenault of Huntsville, Alabama; six grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Marie Rose Adkins; and sisters, Susan Adkins and Rose Marie James.
