NOTICE OF THE 2026 MADISON COUNTY CITIZENS SHERIFF’S ACADEMY | SPRING SESSION

MADISON COUNTY-The Madison County Sheriff’s Office is pleased to announce the 2026 Citizen’s Sheriff Academy, which will commence on March 24, 2026, and conclude with a graduation ceremony on June 9, 2026. This program is designed to provide citizens with a comprehensive understanding of the Sheriff’s Office overall operations, culture, and law enforcement organization. To participate in this program, applicants must submit their applications by the Friday, February 6, 2026 deadline. We encourage citizens to apply for this unique and informative program. Citizens who wish to participate in the Sheriff’s Citizens’ Academy need to apply, which can be found on the provided link.

Upon acceptance, participants will receive a comprehensive curriculum that covers various aspects of law enforcement, including:
★ Patrol Division Overview•
★ Community Policing Initiatives•
★ Crisis Management and Response•
★ Forensic Science and Technology•
★ Special Weapons and Tactics•
★ Madison County Jail Facility•
★ Laws and the Alabama Court System•
★ Sheriff’s Office Organization•
★ Criminal Investigations Unit & CSI•
★ Madison County Coroner’s Office•
REQUIREMENTS:
This course includes 30-plus hours of instruction. The class will meet one night per week, for 11 weeks, from 6 pm to 9 pm on Tuesday of each week
Participants must be 21 years old and reside in Madison County. Due to the nature of the academy and activities presented, all applicants are subject to criminal history background checks and driver history checks conducted by the Sheriff’s Office of Professional Standards
Those individuals with a felony conviction are not eligible to participate in the Citizen’s Sheriff Academy•
Regular attendance is expected; however, emergencies may occur; students with more than two absences will not be allowed to continue in the class
This initiative is not a recruitment program for employment but a valuable educational experience for our community members interested in learning more about the Madison County Sheriff’s Office
