FLORENCE-On 12/31/2025 Agents with the Lauderdale County Drug Task Force and Deputies with the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office discovered that there was a group attempting to smuggle contraband into the detention center. Agents and detention center staff began an investigation. One attempt was intercepted by agents and jail staff. The package that was intercepted contained Methamphetamine (ICE), Suboxone strips, cigarettes, and a cellphone with chargers.
During the investigation, agents discovered that 5 individuals had attempted to smuggle contraband in the detention on multiple occasions and Agents began to attempt to locate the individuals involved. All of the offenders were located and arrested. One of the offenders (Nance) was arrested on 01/06/2026 by Agents and Florence Police Officers. During the arrest, Methamphetamine (ICE), Fentanyl, Alprazolam and Carisoprodol were located. The following were arrested and charged.

Conspiracy to commit a Controlled Substance Crime.
Agencies assisting the Lauderdale County Drug Task Force during this investigation were the Florence Police Department, Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office, Lauderdale County District Attorney’s Office, Tuscumbia Police Department, and Colbert County Drug Task Force.
All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty
